6th Nov, 2012.
Tuesday.
today is another day for my Elecsys class.
but this time we have a special lecture from a special guest..
wondering who?? hurmm..okay..let me give you some hints..
his name start with the letter 'A'..and he's one of the important person in Canon Opto Malaysia..
hurmm..you guys know who is he??
yeah..he's Mr Muhammad Azlan bin Amran..Senior General Manager at Administration Centre of Canon Opto (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd..
my feeling?? of course I feel happy..instead I feel really excited to meet with a person who sits for an important position in a famous company..=)
and for your information..he's Dr Kamal's friend as Dr. Kamal used to work there before he pursued his study and be a lecturer several years ago..^_^
firstly..I will tell you guys some info about Canon Opto (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd..it is one of the Japan's branch company which is Canon itself..and this company is located at Shah Alam..the company description is Manufacture of Optical Instruments And Equipment (SSM).
and some extra info about this company is..it is incorporated in December 1988, Canon Opto (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd produces cameras, optical lenses and optical components. It started production of lenses in November, 1989. And, in June, 1990, it started to manufacture penta prisms and cameras.

Have you ever heard about OHARA?
it is one of two company that cooperates with Canon Opto (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd by providing lens for Canon which is located at Malacca. The other one company is located at Penang but I'm not too sure about its spelling either SCHOOT or similar with it.
The second session is "Manufacturing Company Roles in the Product Life Cycle".
It is like the principle of a company that must be obeyed by them. Actually..there are 4 basic principles in a company which is EQCD..and Canon followed all the principles.
1) E (environment) - in every single steps taken..they must consider about environment.
2) Q (quality) - quality is priority.
3) C (cost) - low manufacturing cost for reasonable price in market.
4) D (delivery) - the delivery/work must be on time to take care customer's priority.
Besides..Mr Azlan also said that when we're in job life..we don't need to memorise all the things like we do now..
means that if we have something we don't undestand.. we can just simply refer it to books and notes..
hurmm..simple right?? =)
In fact..result is more important than the way w do the job..some employers don't look at our way of doing job but the results we get and the time that we take to finish it..they'll feel impress if you can finish work that need 3 hours to finish it and you can finish it in half an hour..yet..this is a chance for us to grab their attention so that we can improve our position in that company..huhu..
For instance..an engineer must transform "prototype" into "mass production".
I'm not quite sure about this but I think its about our level of thinking in planning a task in order to make it move smoothly.
The last session is "Japanese Work Culture".
Canon adapted 3 basic Japanese culture in their company.
1) "HORENSO"
2) "SAN-GEN" (3 GEN)
3) "5S"
Unfortunately..Mr Azlan just explain the first two of them which are "HORENSO" and "SAN-GEN" as there is not enough time.
1) "HORENSO"
--> HOU : Houkoku means report. A good report must start with a conclusion first and only then we consider about its content.
--> REN : Renraku means contact.
--> SOU : Soudan means consult.
2) "SAN-GEN"
--> GENBA : Site, actual spot
--> GENBUTSU : Actual thing
--> GENJITSU : Reality
Along his speech..I thought that he make a joke about poligamy..but then he tolds us that he had two wives instead..
Wow!! Surprising!! but then all we just do is laughing and laughing..huhu..
I think thats all...
