Friday.
Hope you're doing fine right now.
Coz i'm gonna tell you about my previous Elecsys class.
Oh ya! Before that, lets pray for Gaza first.
May Allah gives them strength to face all the challenges that occur now..
Hurmm...:'(
20th November, 2012.
Tuesday.
If last couple weeks ago we have a meeting with Senior General Manager from Canon Optics (M) Sdn. Bhd, for this time we have a meeting with another important person from another company.
The person is Mr Vivek Panicker, the Executive Director of Titan Thermal Solutions from MIMOS company.
1) He speaks about "Overview of Electronic Systems".
According to him, electronic Systems are the grouping of electronic circuits and components which are designed to accomplish one or more complex functions.
It is fundamental to our daily life.
This is because it plays a key role in advancement of technology.
He said that the progressions of electronics systems take place from small to complex architectures and from analog to digital.
2) Next, he also explains about "Role of Electronics in Industry".
Mr Vivek said that electronics plays a vital role in this globalization era especially for current information and technology.
This is because in this era, electronics act as a catalyst to enhanced production and productivity within the industry.
Besides, most of the industries today are heavily depends on electronics.
Without electronics, the production of these industries will decrease.
Conventionally, electronics can be classified into 5 groups.
1) Consumer - the oldest segment of electronic with the advent of radio
receivers.
- geared towards the push of consumer products. e.g: microwave,
nintendo and disc man.
2) Industrial - involve in the usage of machine and the operations.
3) Defence - strategic, creates spin-off electronics for other elements.
4) Communications - current rapid growing.
- benefits from semiconducter etc.
Other than that, electronics also functions in information processing system, medical and imaging.
This is due to the role of electronics itself in these fields.
--> in Information Processing System, it involves in the development of Integrated Circuits (IC's), Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) designs.
--> in Medical, electronics is use in creation medical testing and monitoring equipments.
--> in Imaging, electronics function in development and providing platform for new techniques.
Basically, electronics plays 2 crucial parts in industry:
1) As a platform for development or design new systems.
2) Mean to increase productivity of current systems.
3) Then, Mr Vivek also explains to us about "Overview of Imaging Industry".
Imaging is the representation of an object's outward form.
These are the fields involve in Imaging:
1) Chemical Imaging - simultaneous measurement of spectra and pictures.
2) Digital Imaging - creating digital images [scanning/ digital photography].
3) Geophysical Imaging
4) Medical Imaging - creating images of human.
5) Optical Imaging
6) Radar Imaging - imaging radar.
7) Thermography Imaging - thermal imaging.
4) Next is the "Basic Concepts and Terms".
1) Pixels and Resolution
-> a digital image formed by pixels.
-> smallest piece of information in image.
-> represented using dots, squares or rectangles.
-> "more pixels, more data we have, more clearer the images".
2) Video and Frames
-> record transition.
-> made a group of pictures captured across a period of time.
-> "more frames per second, less jitter the video.
3) NSTC and PAL
-> human eyes need minimum 25 frames/sec.
->PAL TV Standard [ use in Asia, Europe, South America and East Africa].
# use 25 frames/sec with resolution of 320 by 720.
->NSTC TV Standard [ use in North America and Japan].
# use 30 frames/sec with resolution of 480 by 720.
Specifically, Imaging Industry requires processing and huge quantities of data in a short span.
Co-operate with electronics can help to ease complexities, thus making image technology is affordable nowadays.
At the first time hearing that..I feel like.."What's all this..I don't understand..!!".
Luckily..God hearing my pray..=)
5) Mr Vivek gives more explainations about this by sharing some informations about " Electronic Within Thermal Imaging Industry."
Only then I feel glad hearing about it..^_^
Based on him.."Electronics Within Thermal Imaging Industry" is originally a spin-off defence electronics.
It is often referred as " dirty imaging system" compared to CCD and CMOS architectures.
Basically..it use 'phi' of 7 to 14 nano micro to form image and also the sensors that make use of focal plane arrays [ commonly Indium Gallium Arsenide (InGaAs)].
Lastly..he explains about Thermal requires Non-Uniformity Calibration (NUC) on data stream.
Below is the formula given to calculate the Incident profile.
************************************************************
* Incident = Emitted + Transmitted + Reflected *
* profile(I) energy(E) energy(T) energy(R) *
************************************************************

I thinks that's all that I can share with you right now.
Thanks for lending your ears and eyes listening and looking to my entry.
Its quite long I think but I'm pretty sure that you'll be attracted to read it.
Enjoy your day ok! ^_^

Before the class start..
Dr Kamal take this time asking us about "the differences of MJIIT with other faculties and universities".
All of us feel nervous when he suddenly pointed at a person to answer his questions.
Next he explains about the differences of MJIIT with other universities to us.
We feel very grateful because we're chosen to be in this faculty.
Thus..I have promise with myself to study hard to be one of the best student in MJIIT..=)
If Allah wills it..ameen..^_^
